UL 752 BallistiC Standards

What are Ballistic Standards?

The most common standard in North America for ballistic protection is the UL 752 standard, established by UL Solutions (Underwriters Laboratories) to measure the bullet-resistance of various materials and products, such as bulletproof glass, doors, and walls. The UL 752 standards ensure that materials are capable of providing adequate protection against specific ballistic threats.

The standard is divided into several levels, each specifying different types of ammunition, calibers, and velocities that the material must withstand. In the 11th edition of UL 752, levels range from Level 1, which protects against lower-caliber handguns, to Level 10, which protects against high-powered rifles.

To meet a specific standard level, material samples are subjected to rigorous ballistic testing where they are fired upon with specified types of ammunition. The samples are then evaluated based on their ability to prevent bullet penetration and spalling (fragments breaking off from the back of the material).
Armitek’s bulletproof glass* is engineered to meet or exceed UL 752 standards. We manufacture glass to protect against Level 1 through Level 8, the most common levels of protection needed in most non-military applications. Depending on the threat levels you or your organization face, our architectural ballistic glass can be made at different thicknesses to accommodate the threat level.
